King Lear

by William Shakespeare

Directed by Alistair Nunn

In a kingdom divided on a whim, a King loses first his family, then his throne and then his mind. In the gathering storm, families divide, friendships are tested and loyalties are betrayed.

Celebrating its 60th anniversary year, Oxford Theatre Guild presents a fresh and fast-paced production of Shakespeare’s most powerful tragedy. Set in a country ravaged by destruction, the forces of goodness struggle against the consequences of one man’s actions, which have set all around him on a path that can only end in tragedy.

With a history of highly successful productions of summer Shakespeare, OTG marks its 60th birthday by returning to the beautiful setting of Merton College Garden for this compelling new production.

“OTG has a high reputation for the high standard of its productions and this is no exception”
