Festen and All My Sons – child casting

Posted on Aug 25, 2016

OTG child auditions 2016 OTG is seeking child actors for two of our upcoming shows, to be rehearsed and performed this term. Festen (performances 18-22 Oct) Parts available: ‘Little Girl’ with a playing age of 7-12. The part does not have many lines, but the Little Girl is onstage throughout much of the play and has a small group and individual singing part. The audition will include some group exercises including being taught a song. About the play The play is set at a family dinner at which the child is present, with her parents. Several difficult themes are discussed in front of the character (child abuse is one) but nothing is ever directly addressed to her. More information All My Sons (performances 6-10 Dec) Parts available: ‘Bert’ with a playing age ~ 8. Bert plays a game of cops and robbers with Joe Keller, the father of the main family in the play. He appears in two short scenes in the first half of the play and has about 20 lines. The actor will need to speak with an American accent. About the play All My Sons is Arthur Miller’s first great play written just after the end of the Second World War. In the course of a summer’s day a seemingly comfortable family are forced to confront the past with shocking results. More information Auditions We are holding auditions for both parts on Tuesday 13th September and Monday 19th September between 5.30pm and 7.30pm with the respective directors and production team. We will be looking to cast two children for each part and split the role between performances, to avoid undue demands on any one child. If possible please arrive between 5.30 and 6pm, and be prepared to stay until 7.30pm. There is no need to prepare anything beforehand. More information Auditions will be held at the United Reformed Church in Summertown. The URC church is at 294A Banbury Road, Summertown, Oxford, OX2 7HN – opposite the HSBC bank and South Parade. The entrance is along the side – follow the path down the right hand side of the church and look for signs. It is very close to bus stops from the city centre and north Oxford, and there is some street parking nearby. It would be helpful if you could bring a completed audition form, but forms will also be available on the day. If you have any specific needs with regards to access or any other issues, please do get in contact with Dominic, who will help if he can. All OTG auditions are run according to the OTG audition policy and the OTG child protection policy. What if I can’t make those dates and times? If you are interested in auditioning, but are unable to come to any of the given dates, please contact Dominic in case it’s possible to arrange another time. Rehearsals Rehearsals will be variously on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons/evenings, and we would need the children to attend a number of rehearsals before the show weeks, as well as to be available for evening dress rehearsals on Monday 17th October (Festen) and Monday 5th December (All My...
