Celebrate May Day

Celebrate May Day!

Saturday, 1st May 2021, on Zoom
7.30 pm for 8.00 pm startSaturday, 1 st May 2021,

As we all know, the streets of Oxford are usually buzzing with music and dancing on May Day. Sadly, the country is unlikely to have opened up enough for that to happen this year but OTG plans to mark the occasion with an evening of readings and music.

The theme of the evening will be “Awakenings” to welcome the arrival of spring and all the green shoots, both metaphorical and physical, springing up around the country. Choose a piece that chimes with this upbeat theme (a poem, a song, a reading, a monologue, a duologue) and we’ll put together a varied and light-hearted evening in keeping with the spirit of the day.

Once you’ve chosen your piece, please send it to this email address by the end of March. Ruth Readshaw and Tim Eyres will then collate all the offerings to create a varied and enjoyable evening for members and their families. To ensure we have enough time to include everybody that wants to participate, please keep your contributions to a reasonable length. Readings and monologues should be no more than 5 minutes and duologues no more than 10 minutes, unless there is a pressing reason for your piece to have a little extra time. We look forward eagerly to receiving your ideas.
