Auditions for Pinter's One for the Road

Saturday 4 Feb - 11am to 1pm - Back Room, Summertown URC (map)
Tuesday 7 Feb - 7.30pm - 9.30pm - Main Hall, Summertown URC

There is no need to prepare anything - just come with an open mind and a willingness to try some of Pinter's brilliant dialogue!

If you can't make either of the times, please contact me to see if an alternative can be arranged.

The Play

Pinter's piece is a challenging examination of the use of torture (mental and physical) at the hands of a totalitarian regime. Shot through with very black humour, it is a play which offers the three actors an opportunity to explore some of the extremes of human behaviour with a brilliantly constructed and powerful script.

Roles Available

Nicolas (playing age 35 - 65)
A senior representative of an authoritarian regime. He is very self-assured and confident in his faith. He must always convey an air of barely restrained menace.

Victor (playing age 25 - 40)
Gila (playing age 25 - 40)
Husband and wife - they are both opponents of the new regime and prepared to stand up for what they believe in - no matter what the personal consequences may be. They react with fortitude to their treatment but are certainly changed by it.

Performances

We will be looking to perform at a range of Oxfordshire Drama Festivals including Henley, Abingdon and Wallingford. The festivals are taking place during May and June - exact dates to be confirmed.

Rehearsals
It is a short piece (with a running time of under 30 minutes) so the aim will be to rehearse just once per week (at least for the first couple of months). The schedule will be drawn up to suit the availability of the cast members.

Technical Crew
We are also looking for a stage manager and technical operator for the production. If you would like to get involved, please contact me.
