AUDITIONS

Auditions will take place on 16, 17, 19, 21 and 26 February. Initial auditions are open to all, but the audition on 26 February will be a recall, by invitation only.

All auditions will take place at the United Reformed Church Hall (URC), 294a Banbury Road, Summertown OX2 7HN (map) They will be run as group sessions, so please ensure you turn up at the venue in good time. Please bring a completed audition form (though copies will be available). You will be photographed at the audition - a simple protrait shot to assist the director in putting names to faces. Please dress suitably to engage in some minor physical activity at the rehearsals.

You may just arrive at an audition should you so wish, but in order that the director can anticipate the likely numbers at each session and organise them as efficiently as possible it would be usful to know which session(s) you will attend. If possible please email the director a few days in advance with this infomation.

Thurs 16th Feb – 7.30pm (For the parts of Beatrice and Benedick only)
Though Much Ado is far from being just the play about Beatrice and Benedick, the characters do have a pivitol role in the production and so the first rehearsal will be dedicated to auditioning for these roles. As well as considering individuals, I am happy to consider pairs of actors who may wish to present themselves for both roles. If you wish to do so, please email the director and let him know if you will only accept the roles together.

Fri 17th Feb – 7.30pm (For Dogberry, Verges and the Watch only)
The Watch and its leaders have enormous comic potential, but the language and wit of the play is somewhat remote from us today. I will therefore want to explore what we can develop in charcterisation and improvisation, letting our ideas flow from the starting point Shakespeare gives us. We can add business. We can add slapstick and visual humour. Damn it, we can add words too if we want! So if you want to kick off the traces and work beyond the script, these could be parts for you. This audition will have more of a workshop atmosphere.

Sun 19th Feb – 2.30pm (General audition)
The general auditions will cover all the other roles in the play. Would be Beatrices and Benedicks are welcome to attend either of these two.

Tues 21st Feb – 7.30pm (General auditon)
The general auditions will cover all the other roles in the play. Would be Beatrices and Benedicks are welcome to attend either of these two.

Sun 26th Feb – 2.30pm (recall only)
By invitation only.
