THE AUDITION PROCESS
Our auditions are open to all – however this production does not call for any young characters so we will not be casting anyone who is younger than 16 years of age (by 1st April 2010). If cast you will be expected to join the Guild (for a very modest fee) – see details here.
You can attend more than one audition. There will be one call back session after the auditions, by invitation only.
You can audition for just one named part, or several. You will be asked to read 2–3 times, on your own and with others, depending on the part you are interested in.
Look at the audition form here and bring in a copy filled in with your details (blank forms will be provided on the night). Guild committee members will be at auditions to greet you, answer any questions, and take feedback on the audition process. We will take your photo too, purely to help the Director – he will have to remember a lot of new faces.
Audition pieces are available online. If you have any queries that have not been answered on this website then the Director, Alistair Nunn, will take questions by email.
Rehearsals
Rehearsals will start in mid April.
A full rehearsal schedule will be issued after auditions and not all cast will be required for all rehearsals initially. Rehearsals will usually be Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights, and some Sundays. Some rehearsals will be outdoors, weather permitting.
We will also expect all cast and crew to be involved in publicising the play in addition to attending rehearsals.
If you are considering auditioning please think carefully about any holiday plans you have between end of April and end of July. It is very hard for us to accommodate cast who plan to be away for more than a week, and we cannot cast anyone who has holiday in July.
Crew wanted!
Just as important and valuable for the production are all the backstage crew. If you can offer experience, help, or just plain enthusiasm in the following:
Set building – at our very own workshop
Props – finding and making
Wardrobe – seamstress and masters
Publicity – innovative and creative ways of packing them in
Backstage crew – calling Assistant Stage Managers
Make-up and hair – we provide the slap if you have the time
Light and sound riggers and operators– let loose on the Guild tech equipment
To volunteer for the crew then contact OTG Secretary Joanna Matthews.
It can be just for the fun of it or to add to your CV for future studies.
All crew will be expected to join Oxford Theatre Guild. See here for membership details.
