three strips of cloth (canvas?)  each about 1.5 m wide

enough space for an actor to hide behind cloth, say 0.5 m

downstage width 8 m, say

upstage width 6 m, say

stage depth 6 m, say

lights and possibly more strips of cloth to be hung on scaffolding left and right

 

The Designer's first thoughts

 

Stage design

Multi-level stage based on a pentagram – magic symbol representing the elements (earth, air, fire, wind, water, spirit).

 

Also the idea of a fortress – the geometry of defence – keeping out outsiders – bulwarks against the elements.

 

 

 

 

 

We tried out two different stage designs...

                  

So this was the design that was agreed on so off to build it
