Welcome to the Tempest Scrap Book The Tempest, July 2006 Welcome to the ‘multimedia scrapbook’ of Oxford Theatre Guild’s production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest in Trinity College Gardens, 18 to 29 July 2006. We hope that this will grow into a substantial record of the production, contributed by the cast and crew, and that it will provide some insight into the creative process by which half-baked ideas develop into more mature concepts and ultimately into the final production. Quite how our scrapbook will turn out depends entirely on the enthusiasm of the cast and production team for the project, but the potential areas of interest that come to mind include the following. Stage design — For this production, we are building a custom-designed stage. Items for the scrapbook may include notes and drawings of the director’s first ideas, notes and graphics on the stage designer’s inspirations, photos of models of the stage designer’s concepts, photos of construction, installation and the finished stage on site. Director’s notes — Why this play, what themes are most interesting, the relationship between imagination and reality, thoughts on the rehearsal process. Publicity materials — designer’s concepts and rough draft for poster and flyer; headshot photographs; final versions of poster and flyer; press photos. Cast & Crew — stage biographies, rehearsal photos, thoughts on the play and production. Costumes and make-up — notes, sketches. Music and sound — notes of both the textual and auditory variety; sound files: wodges of WAVs, morsels of MIDI, pieces of eight-track …. Rehearsal — notes and photos. Show Photos — photos.
